A competitive, developmental approach
We are dedicated to developing strong athletes and individuals through teamwork, discipline, and a commitment to improvement.

Competitive goal: Teach kids how to compete without making winning the focus. Establish and build good “Wolfpack skills”- showing up on time, being present, sportsmanship. Reward fundamentals and solid player skills. Move players around the field exposing kids to different positions during games early in the season, hit the entire lineup, player time (innings played) is spread across team.
Development Priorities
-
Clean up throwing mechanics, grip, and accuracy (the foundation for all future competitiveness).
-
Ensure/establish hitting basics: consistent setup, simple bat path, contact quality.
-
Teach defensive fundamentals: ready position, glove angle, footwork.
-
Introduce baseball IQ: force vs. tag, where the play is, basic baserunning reads.
Competitive Layer
-
Use small-sided competitions (e.g., 3-out fielding challenges, hitting points games).
-
Keep reps high and lines short—competitive teams emphasize structured, high-volume practice.

Competitive goal: Players begin to understand how fundamentals translate into winning baseball. Reinforce and reward “Wolfpack skills”- showing up, being on time, being present, positive attitudes and good sportsmanship. Move players during games to different positions, trying new positions and team dynamics, hit the entire line-up during games.
Development Priorities
-
Improve contact consistency and introduce situational hitting (move the runner, hit behind).
-
Strengthen throwing mechanics and begin arm care routines.
-
Teach cutoffs, relays, and double-play footwork.
-
Begin pitching development: balance, direction, fastball command, changeup.
Competitive Layer
-
Add game-speed drills: live reads off the bat, timed baserunning, pressure throws.
-
Use structured practice plans with weekly progression—competitive programs rely on consistent routines and tracked reps.

Competitive goal: Handle bigger fields, harder pitching, and more complex game situations. “Wolfpack skills” should now be fundamental and the expectation; assuming wolfpack skills are in place, some player positioning may develop while also paying attention to innings played per player given their player skills and fundamentals. Hitting the entire line-up is still the goal.
Development Priorities
-
Reinforce mechanics as bodies change—growth spurts can disrupt timing and coordination.
-
Advance defensive systems: bunt defense, 1st-and-3rd plays, situational positioning.
-
Improve swing decisions: strike-zone awareness, pitch selection.
-
Expand baserunning IQ: reads on balls in front/behind, pitcher tendencies.
Competitive Layer
-
Increase live ABs, situational scrimmages, and pressure-based drills.
-
Introduce video review to accelerate correction of mechanical errors—competitive programs use it heavily at this age.
-
Begin position-specific refinement while still allowing some flexibility.

Competitive goal: Players start to look like high-school prospects; training intensity increases. Coaches should expect and hold players accountable to “Wolfpack skills.” More discernment for player positioning is occurring while maintaining attention toward innings played with more intention toward winning games. Hitting the line-up is up to coaches’ discretion.
Development Priorities
-
Establish positional identity (primary + secondary).
-
Add age-appropriate strength and mobility (bodyweight, bands, movement quality).
-
Expand pitching repertoire carefully—some may begin learning a safe breaking ball.
-
Teach offensive approach: counts, zones, situational intent.
Competitive Layer
-
Use data-light metrics (EV, throwing velo, strike %) to guide development, not judge players.
-
Increase practice intensity and introduce routine-based training (pre-practice warmups, arm care).
-
Competitive programs emphasize consistent vocabulary and structured routines to accelerate growth.

Competitive goal: Prepare players to compete for high-school roster spots. “Wolfpack skills” are fully developed. Mastery of primary and secondary positions is occurring while maintaining attention toward innings played with more intention toward winning games. Hitting the line-up is up to coaches’ discretion.
Development Priorities
-
Refine positional mastery: footwork, reads, communication, advanced defensive plays.
-
Build strength, speed, and durability with structured training.
-
Develop pitching plans: sequencing, reading hitters, managing innings.
-
Advance hitting approach: adjust to pitcher types, leverage counts, situational execution.
Competitive Layer
-
Practices should resemble high-school environments: stations, competition, clear expectations.
-
Use video + metrics intentionally to support adjustments.
-
Emphasize accountability, leadership, and team culture—competitive teams win with maturity as much as skill.
